Ayinger Celebrator

The Ayinger Celebrator Doppelbock is one of the most iconic beers of its style (if not the most iconic).  We tasted this beer on Episode 17.  With its malty mouth feel and dark roast color, do not let this German beer fool you.  It has some very complex flavors hidden in its depths.  Also quite deceiving, it is not as heavy as a stout, with which it shares a striking resemblance.  The combination of dark fruit and roasted malt give this beer a flavor that explodes in your mouth.  While not for every beer drinker, it is a good step towards more fantastic flavors for those wishing to ease in to the waters.  This beer also conforms to the German Beer Purity Law, the Reinheitsgebot, which means it only contains water, hops, and barley (and yeast from the air, but it specifically does not mention it because it is an old law).  While the other hosts could not seem to say the name of this beer (which they found hilarious), they also were not the biggest fans of this beer.  Joel still loves this beer, as the complex flavors come through in a beautifully smooth way.
