Bourbon County Barleywine

On Episode 21 we tasted the Goose Island Bourbon County Barleywine, and boy was it interesting!  Boasting a 14% ABV, it packs a punch that partially derailed the episode!  However, that heat is elegantly disguised by the complex flavors that come from the bourbon barrels and dark fruits of the barleywine.  I (Joel) have had Bourbon County in the past, but previously just had the stout, so the barleywine was a very unique and surprising pickup for me.  Barleywine, particularly English, is one of my favorite styles of beer, so it was well worth it!  Great flavor and mouthfeel all the way through, but I think the aroma may have been the best part!  I would describe the aroma as deep and dark, which may not make sense to describe a smell that way, that is exactly the way to describe it.  Nick and I absolutely melted over how fantastic this beer was that we were ecstatic that neither Scott nor Dylan liked it because that meant we got to have more!  The beer was so good that I forgot to get a picture before it was all gone!
